Super Smash Bros Possibly Confirmed For Nintendo Switch

Speaking in a Facebook Live interview, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime strongly hinted that we could see a Super Smash Bros game released on the new Nintendo Switch console.

“Smash is obviously one of our best-selling franchises” and that a main Nintendo development philosophy  is “to have at least one [each] of our classic franchises” on “every platform.” He said.

“There’s gonna be one great Super Mario experience, there’s gonna be a great Zelda experience” he continued, “so you can expect, you can anticipate at some point in the future, who knows when, that all of our franchises will be addressed. We know that the fans love these games, love this content, so stay tuned.”

There’s a few other key takeaways from the interview that you should keep in mind:

  • Netflix and other streaming apps are coming in due time.
  • The 3DS is unaffected by the Switch launch.
  • The Switch is still the fastest selling Nintendo system ever.
  • Nintendo won’t be making any VR/AR technology.

The latest game, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS, sold more than 5 million copies on Wii U and more than 8.5 million units for 3DS.

Nintendo Switch launched on March 3, 2017, and is priced at $299.99 in the US.
