Steam by far releases many more games then any other gaming platform. One of the things I love about Steam is the many free to play games they constantly roll out. Gaming can be expensive, and not everyone can afford to keep their gaming libraries fresh. When that time comes, Steam is there for us in our time of need with a vast library of free games. Who doesn’t love free stuff?
You can dig into Steams gaming archive yourself anytime, and find many gems worthy of trying out. Here is just a small portion of the recently launched free to play titles Valve has to offer.
We love to hear our audiences opinions. Please give a short review in our comment section after you try the games out…

Berserk: The Cataclysm
Video Source – MMOs.com 2
‘Berserk: The Cataclysm’ is a free-to-play browser Trading Card game published by IDC/Games. Its exclusive automatic battle system has made it one of the most successful Online Trading Card games due to its complexity and its metagame, which includes Clan Wars and conquering territories through warring and PvP.
In ‘Berserk: The Cataclysm’, players will have to demonstrate their abilities creating their own squadrons, Berserk’s particular card decks. The game is set in the fantasy world of Laar, a universe that has been devastated by the Darkness—now, resources are limited and atrocious creatures have been occupying more and more of the territory. The fight for survival is a constant batle for the scant lands of Laar: only those Ungar Sorcerers that are capable of lifting the lands of Laar into the air and create floating islands will survive.
In this adventure over power and glory, players become Ungars who have to command their squadrons to block the advances of their foes and other players and conquer their territories. At the same time, they’ll have to gain the power of the five elements and improve their magical skills.
- Craft your own squadrons from out of more than 1.200 available cards. Upgrade and evolve your cards to craft more powerful ones.
- Develop your own strategies by combining all types of cards and elements.
- Conquer other players’ territories to increase your own resources.
- Take part in different types of battles, including PvP and PvE.
The “PvP Update” emphasizes on 1vs1 content, rounding it off with the Tournaments—a league based on eliminatory matches known as “Ranked League” or “Ranked Ladder” ruled by the Elo rating system, which has been used in this kind of competitions for decades—in addition to other features such as strategic boosters, to be used in critical moments. In the eliminatory 1vs1 matches, players will compete against each other (depending on their level) to hike up on the ranking and try to come out on top. There will be a classic league division—you’ll advance accordingly depending on your score on each battle. Once you have the necessary points, you will have to win 3 matches to pass to the next league.
Evidently, the best players will be rewarded with magnificent prices, in correlation with the rank they reach at the end of each season. Each season will have a previously determined length. The ranking system is based on the Elo ranking system, a mathematic method that uses statistic calculations to work out the players’ relative skill.
The “PvP Update” expansion also includes classic Tournaments taken over from trading card games: Standard tournaments and Swiss tournaments.
The Standard tournaments are based on a tournament chart with the match ups where the winner will advance until the final round. The Swiss system is the most used competition system in individual as well as team competitions worldwide. It’s also used in several games that can range from lawn bowling, bridge or checkers, Scrabble and of course, Trading Card games.
Thanks to this system, we’re able to integrate elite and new or hobbyist players in a same event.
