Plants vs. Zombies Heroes Gotta Collect ‘ em All

Amidst all the excitement surrounding the Nintendo Switch as well as the Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer, PopCap Games has released Plants vs. Zombies Heroes. Moving away from the tower defense mechanics of the original mobile titles, Plants vs. Zombies Heroes is a collectible card battle game.

For the first time on mobile, players can now choose to side with either the plants or the zombies. Starting out players will choose a hero to play as from either side. From there they will build their team from hundreds of characters, old and new.

The single-player campaign looks to keep players busy with 80 adventures and 400 levels. In addition, players can also jump online and test their team out against other players in both ranked and unranked matches. Plants vs. Zombies Heroes also brings multiplayer to mobile for the first time in the franchise.

Plants vs. Zombies’ latest genre jump is a result of PopCap’s downtime in the studio. “Plants vs. Zombies Heroes started a few years ago as a paper card game prototype and a fun way for our team to enjoy playing with their favorite PvZ characters in their spare time,” said Brian Lindley, Senior Producer, Plants vs. Zombies Heroes. “Since then it has evolved into a hilarious, crazy, over-the-top collectible card game that’s fun for everyone but packed with depth, secrets and strategy. We can’t wait for our fans to start playing.”

PopCap Games is celebrating the release of Plants vs. Zombies Heroes with the Lawn of Doom event across its previous titles. Players can take part in the event in Plants vs. Zombies 2 as well as Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2. Across the two titles, players can partake in Halloween-themed treasure and boss hunts. Players can also get Halloween-themed costumes and characters. The event is going on now and will run through Oct. 31.

Plant vs. Zombies Heroes is now available on both iOS and Android.
