Late last year, Nintendo and Universal Studios announced that they were teaming up to develop a brand new #theme park centered around “Super Mario” and other popular properties created by the Japanese developer. Now, we know what it’s going to be called.
Nintendo has filed a new trademark application for something called Super Nintendo World, and from what it sounds like, it could be the name of the Nintendo/Universal theme park.
The trademark application, titled “#Super Nintendo World,” was filed with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) on May 24.
In the trademark listing there are all kinds of details that hint at what kinds of merchandise, events, and rides might be included in the park. You should note that a lot of this is preliminary — a laying of the groundwork, if you will — so it’s possible that not everything mentioned will come to fruition. There are some rumored rides receiving some official corroboration here, though. For instance, we’re all expecting some kind of Mario Kart attraction, and this was alluded to directly in part of the filing.

Three theme parks are currently planned in Hollywood, Orlando, and Osaka, so might a European theme park be next? We certainly hope so!
