In Loving Memory | Alan Rickman

Today in place of a “Today in Gaming” we will be doing a tribute to an amazing actor, humanitarian and man.

Alan Sidney Patrick Rickman born February 21, 1946

Rickman was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company performing in both modern and classical theatre productions. His big break was his role as the Vicomte de Valmont in the play Les Liaisons Dangereuses in 1985, for which he was nominated for a Tony Award. Rickman gained wider notice for his film performances as Hans Gruber in Die Hard and Severus Snape in the Harry Potter film series.

He was also known as the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves (I’ll cut your heart out with a spoon!”) and the voice of God in the dark comedy “Dogma” with Jay and SilentBob. More recently, he played Judge Turpin in the film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s musical of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Mr. Rickman passed away today (1/14/16) in London, at the age of 69. We are saddened by this news as Rickman was still a vibrant lively man who had so much to offer the world. Rickman was chosen by Empire as one of the 100 Sexiest Stars in film history (No 34) in 1995 and ranked No 59 in Empire’s “The Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time” list in October 1997.

His final piece yet to be released we will hear is all knowing voice one more time as Absolem the Caterpillar in “Alice Through the Looking Glass” set to release later 2016 or early 2017.
