Valentines Day is an important landmark date for GT USA. Though I consider May 5th, 2014 to be GT USA’s official birth date, It all really started in DE 2 years ago.
The original concept for GameTraders USA came from a Facebook group named WV GameTraders, created by Marc Crouse. Game trading groups were a new concept to me 3 years ago. I found them on Craigslist around the time they created the group. It took me a while to get into it, but after my 1st couple of trades I was checking in on the group several times a day.
My wife & I lived in Charleston, WV at the time. We got to enjoy the experience of being 2 of the 300k people who we’re effected by the Elk River Chemical Spill. At the time they were calling it the water crisis there. I worked at a gas station in the middle of the city. It was one for the record book of my life story for sure.
When a towns water supply is completely tainted, its time for me to go. The Elk River wasn’t that clean in the 1st place, but I’m not bathing in chemical soup. So we cut our loses in WV, and went back home to New Castle, DE to re-plan.
When I was leaving I said bye to my new friends in WV GameTraders, and said I was sad DE didn’t have a good game trading group. A few guys suggested that I make one. So a few days after we got back I created DE GameTraders…
I have around 7k friends on FB now. When I started DE GameTraders I only had around 250 close friends and family members on my friends list. So I added them. I spent a couple days posting on Craigslist, advertising in local yard sale groups, and asking my friends and the new members to add all of their friends. Within 3 weeks DE GameTraders had thousands of members. And its still one of the coolest game trading groups on FaceBook.
DE GameTraders was so awesome, I decided to spread game trading groups across the country. So I put together a team and formed GameTraders USA. The rest is a story for another day…
I’d like to send a special shout out to the DE GameTraders admin team. We have such an amazing crew running the group. So big thanks to Tony Cook, Shane ShyStylz Burton, Mike Vito, and Alex Carman. They are the best admins a group could ask for. Fear the Ban Hammer!
