Final Fantasy XIV boss Naoki Yoshida has confirmed that Stormblood, the latest expansion for Final Fantasy XIV, will launch on June 20 2017.

The newest job coming with the expansion is a red mage, an extra job class starting at a tentative level 50 with a ranged and magic DPS role. It will wield a Rapier for melee attacks and a Magicked Crystal Medium for magic, although weapons may be renamed later in development. A red mage can easily switch between ranged and melee attacks, and can store up magical power to unleash in one huge blow.

Stormblood will also introduce the ability to swim and dive in certain areas. Upon entering an accessible body of water, you character will automatically switch to swim mode. In swim mode, your default walking speed turns into a breaststroke animation, while using sprint will cause your character to crawl. No combat will be available while swimming, and there will be no loading times when switching to swim mode.
A new beast tribe called “The Ananta” will appear. They inhabit the mountains near Ala Mhigo and are made up solely of females. They’re oppressed by the Garleans and have existed since the time of the Allagans. They’re known for their skill in spell- and gem-craft. They believe in a goddess known as “Lakshmi, the Lady of Bliss.”
Final Fantasy XIV is available for PC, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.
