Lets Get Ready To Rumble!
They say The Royal Rumble Kicks off the road to Wrestlmania. For me Wrestlemania is the first PPV event of the year. Since I can remember the Rumble has been my favorite type of match in wrestling. There’s nothing like the intensity of 30 superstars meeting up for a winner takes all match.
This year the drama is intense. The pre-show will kick off with a freshly announced Fatal 4 way tag match. Followed by 5 title matches, one of which is the Royal Rumble itself. WTF! Lets check out the details.
Fatal 4 Way Tag Team Match Pre-Show
This announcement came about recently for a Fatal 4 way pre-show match. Though there is no title involved, winning team gains entry into this years Rumble, which could lead to a big title. The teams participating will be The Ascension vs. The Dudley Boyz vs. Darren Young & Damien Sandow vs. Mark Henry & Jack Swagger.
The mammoth Mark Henry is always a favorite whenever he is in the Rumble. Like The Big Show, when he makes his appearance it always changes the dynamic. I predict Henry and Swagger will take the entry prize.
Tag Team Champs The New Day vs. The Usos
These 2 tag teams have built up quite a rivalry. The comedic tag team champs have been on a roll lately. But The Usos are as pumped as ever.
This should prove to be an entertaining match as always, if your not sick of this rivalry yet. My prediction is the Usos will take the belts, and the rivalry will run beyond Wrestlemania.
United States Champion Alberto Del Rio vs. Kalisto
Champion Alberto Del Rio is a Man of Mexican pride. So he didn’t take it well when Kalisto caught him sleeping and stole the belt. With the assistance of King Barret, Del Rio was able to get the belt back. Maybe this time Alberto won’t under estimate the little Luchador.
My prediction for this belt, Kalisto is going to El Super Beasto Alberto Del Rio. My reason, because he is the new Rey Mysterio. Everyone loves to see Little Mac take Down the champ.
Divas Champion Charlotte vs. Becky Lynch
Here are 2 of my favorite newer Divas gearing up for a cat fight. The champion Charlotte is the daughter of Rick Flair, and it shows big time. Cuteness with the personality of The Nature Boy is a winning combo. She has some moves too. But Becky Lynch is no push over, and definitely has some moves of her own. I also like to watch her move. So I’m looking forward to this match.
Its hard to predict a winner for this match up. I like both Divas. Charlotte is tough, I think the odds are in her favor. I dig Becky Lynch the most out of the ladies division. I like a tall red head with attitude. But I’m giving this one to Charlotte.
Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens
In my opinion besides the Rumble, this is the match to be the most excited about. I like the antics of The Lunatic Fringe, Dean Ambrose. I think he’s one of the coolest fighters currently on WWE’s roster. Kevin Owens is a great fighter, with a nasty attitude. He’s the type of guy that is there to get the job done.
Both love to fight, so this should prove to be a scrappy match. Owens wants that IC belt, and willing to do whatever it takes to get it. But Ambrose isn’t champion for nothing. He’s got the crazy eye’s. In the past couple of years he’s taken on guys bigger and badder fighters than Owens. Kevin Owens is tough, but I predict the Lunatic Fringe is going to walk away with his IC title.
The Royal Rumble 2016
This years Rumble might be the most drama packed in history. The Champ Roman Reigns has done a great job of getting under the skin of Vince Mcmahon. In consequence Vince has stacked the deck against Reigns by making him defend his title in the Rumble and giving him the #1 entry spot. Ouch! What WWE has left out, is what’s going to happen if the champ loses the belt to 1 of the 29 other competitors??? The goal of winning the Rumble is a to have a chance to take on the champ at Wrestlemania for the championship. If Roman Reigns can’t superman punch his way through 29 fighters and loses the belt, I guess the logical outcome would be for Reigns to get a rematch at Wrestlemania for the title. Given the situation with Vince Mcmahon, the odds of him getting that rematch would probably be slim to none.
Roman Reigns isn’t the only drama queen in the Rumble. Brock Lesnar has felt like he was screwed out of his title for a long time. His hostility seems to build with every appearance. If you tuned in last Monday, Lesnar took a beating at the hands of the Wyatt Family. Normally he comes out and clears the floor with anyone in site that can’t fire him. After the last Raw before the Rumble’s events, expect his rage meter to be at 110%.
So far 13 of the 30 Rumble participants have been announced. Besides the 13 that have been announced, it is rumored that Daniel Bryan and Triple H may make appearances this year. Before my prediction, lets take a look at the 13 fighters we know of so far.
- Roman Reigns
- Brock Lesnar
- Big Show
- Chris Jericho
- Dolph Ziggler
- Curtis Axel
- Bray Wyatt
- Erick Rowan
- Luke Harper
- Braun Strowman
Things aren’t looking good for the champ here. Only 2 other contenders who have started as the #1 entrant of the Rumble have went on to win it. Plus he has Brock Lesnar gunning for him. Its a given that Brock will make a big impact one way or the other. Depending on when The Wyatt family numbers are called, they may have the strength in numbers. Lets also not forget that the most feared man in Rumble history, the Big Show, is already on the line up. Can’t count Ryback or Sheamus out either. If Mark Henry’s team wins their match, his appearance can be a game changer. He should always have a given spot in my opinion. And lets not forget the 17 other competitors who haven’t been announced.
This year has the makings of what could be the greatest Royal Rumble match in history. Its hard to predict a winner because we don’t know the release order besides Reigns is 1st. Its easier to predict he is not going to win. The biggest most dominant fighter usually get teamed up against. If all 4 Wyatts can make it out at the same time, they stand a chance to dominate.
I’m going to make 2 predictions. If Brock Lesnar gets released at 15 or higher he will dominate and win. If not I’m giving it to Bray Wyatt because of the numbers game. Roman Reigns has proved his endurance in the Rumble before, but I don’t think this will be his night.
Enjoy The Show!
