Recommended Must Play | Chrono Trigger

Good Morning readers, and welcome to what I hope to be a weekly read. My Recommended Must Play, a game every week from new to games of yesteryear that I say all gamers must try out.

In the first instalment we are going to reach back a bit to 1995 and one of my all time favorite games, Chrono Trigger!

Chrono Trigger was an RPG ahead of its time, while it did consist of all of the standard features you see in RPG games but it innovated so many as well. Areas such as forests, cities, and similar places are depicted as more realistic scaled-down maps, in which players can converse with locals to procure items and services, solve puzzles and challenges, or encounter enemies. Chrono Trigger ’s gameplay deviates from that of traditional RPGs in that, rather than appearing in random encounters, many enemies are openly visible on field maps or lie in wait to ambush the party. Contact with enemies on a field map initiates a battle that occurs directly on the map rather than on a separate battle screen.

Chrono Trigger takes place in a world similar to earth and earths multiple eras of time, prehistoric, Middle Ages and a Post-Apocalyptic future complete with killer robots.

When a new teleporter accidentally rips open the time continuum and a good friend of Chrono vanishes. Him and his comrades begin a rogue journey through time. Trying to correct the wrongs that are occurring from this rift. What follows is a cacophony of hilarity and sorrow . With every jump through time things seem to get worse.

If you are a fan of great story and RPG style gaming this is a 5/5 on my list of must plays. Comedy, romance, action and a little soul in this game goes a long way.

Thanks for reading, see you all next week. TIA!
