Netflix’s “House of Cards” returns for its fifth season on May 30th

House of Cards will be returning for it’s fifth season on May 30th.

The date was confirmed in an foreboding video in which children recite the Pledge of Allegiance as an upside-down American flag waves over a dark scene in front of the Capitol. On Twitter, Netflix wrote in the video’s caption, “We make the terror.” That’s a reference to a line that Frank Underwood delivered in the Season 4 finale. Check out the new teaser video below.

“House of Cards” stars Kevin Spacey as Frank Underwood, a crafty politician who over the show’s four seasons has risen to the presidency using any means necessary, alongside his wife, Claire, played by Robin Wright. The drama also stars Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Neve Campbell, Derek Cecil, Paul Sparks, and Joel Kinnaman. It has won six Emmys.

The May release is several months behind the typical release schedule for the show: the first three seasons debuted in February, while last season premiered in the beginning of March. This season will also mark the first since the show’s creator, Beau Willimon stepped down as showrunner last year.
