While it wasn’t much of a surprise to learn that Modern Warfare Remastered would not be sold separately alongside Activision’s other upcoming release for Call of Duty, Infinite Warfare, those of you who were hoping to recuperate some money by playing Modern Warfare Remastered only, may have to think again. As Charlie Intel reports, a more clearer look at Activision’s updated terms of service via the official Call of Duty site states that Modern Warfare Remastered can only be played if Infinite Warfare’s physical disc is inserted — meaning reselling of physical Infinite Warfare copies will mean the accompanying remaster will become inaccessible to players, even if you’ve already downloaded the digital code it comes bundled with. Quoted from the site itself: “Modern Warfare Remastered is a full game download (game disc must be inserted to play Modern Warfare Remastered).”
If you’re buying Infinite Warfare digitally, this does not apply to you since you won’t have a disc, Charlie Intel reported.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is included on the Infinite Warfare Xbox One disc (no voucher code required) in the Legacy Edition and Legacy Pro Edition of Infinite Warfare. Before Modern Warfare Remastered can be played, an additional download is required. The game disc must be inserted to play Modern Warfare Remastered. Internet connection is required. – Activision
Will Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered be available as a standalone purchase at some future point? Perhaps, but for this holiday season at least, Activision is taking steps to ensure anyone enjoying classic COD is playing Space COD as well.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is due out November 4th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
