Bioware has confirmed the release date for their upcoming Action RPG, Mass Effect Andromeda for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One. According to official PR release, the game is now set to launch on March 21st for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One. It will arrive in Europe on March 23rd.
“We appreciate your patience (and in fact, even your lack of patience in some instances) as we’ve been focused on completing the game,” BioWare boss Aaryn Flynn said in a blog post.
BioWare developers played a version of Andromeda called the “holiday build” over their holiday breaks.
“This is a longstanding studio tradition that goes back to the early days of the original Mass Effect. Many load up a PC or console and go home to play as much as possible at their leisure,” Flynn said. “Coming back from holiday, the feedback has been great. Getting the endorsement from members of our studio, many of whom played key roles on the original trilogy, was definitely a key factor in helping us lock in on the date.”
BioWare describes Andromeda as “the most ambitious Mass Effect game to date,” and it’s the first game in the series to debut on the current generation of consoles. In addition to telling a brand-new story, Andromeda also sees BioWare shift to a new game engine called Frostbite, the same technology used to power other EA-published titles like Battlefield 1 and Star Wars Battlefront. Its release will be followed by a new series of tie-in novels, starting with Nexus Uprising by Jason M. Hough and K.C. Alexander on March 28th.
