The second Hitman episode, Sapienza, will be released on April 26. Square Enix made the announcement today on Twitter with a short video, showcasing an inflatable alligator and a speedboat.
Sapienza will be the second of seven total episodes spread out across the rest of 2016, as this version of Hitman becomes the first episodic title in its history. The location was originally going to be included with Hitman at launch, but when the decision was made to switch to an episodic release model, Sapienza was pushed to April. The next chapter after Sapienza is set in Morocco and is coming in May. The first Hitman episode, which is available now, takes place in Paris.
If you already purchased the full Hitman game, this will just be the second of seven episodes that you’ll be getting as part of the $60 package. To players who just want to purchase this episode separately, you’ll be paying $10.
Io Interactive have been releasing free weekly content for players who have already purchased the full game, with “Elusive Contracts” and “Escalation Contracts” that provide new challenges and assassination opportunities for Agent 47.
The game got off to a rocky start with fans before it even released with the news that it would become episodic so Hitman hasn’t exactly got off to the best of starts. However with an open-world gameplay style and generally positive reviews IO Interactive shouldn’t have too much to worry about going forward.
With Hitman Episode 2 releasing next month, with a further five to follow after that it would seem that all the content should be available way before the end of the year.
